City of Sheboygan condemns EBCO Complex
According to the City of Sheboygan, the EBCO Venture Center has numerous building code violations

SHEBOYGAN — Tenants in the EBCO Venture Center are being forced to vacate by order of the City of Sheboygan Building Inspection Department.
According to the City of Sheboygan, the EBCO complex in the 1200 block of Erie Avenue has numerous building code violations. Documents obtained by WKTS News, building inspectors noted finding open wiring, extension cords being used in place of permanent wiring and obstructions near electrical panels on February 27th. In July and August 2024, inspectors noted the building was occupied by one or more tenants in unsafe conditions.

The 80,000-square-foot building is owned by Nathan M. Taylor of Kohler.1 Tenants in the EBCO Complex include Sheboygan Visual Artists, Pay It Forward, RUFF Academy, Rage Room and woodworking shops. In its heyday, it had over 40 tenants. Taylor purchased the building in 2022 from Tim Ebenreiter.
Mayor Ryan Sorenson told TMJ4 News his office has been working with Taylor since last September, and that Taylor knew this action was looming for months if the violations were not corrected.2 It is not clear if Taylor plans to fix the building code violations or what his next steps are. Sheboygan Visual Artists are eyeing a location in Downtown Sheboygan while Pay It Forward, a not-for-profit organization focused on assisting area homeless individuals, is closing on April 6th and has not yet found a new location.
