Southbound Calumet Drive set to close for five weeks

SHEBOYGAN — Construction on Calumet Drive between Saemann Avenue and Geele Avenue will begin on Monday, May 2nd.

The project includes the replacement of damaged and cracked concrete pavement. Repairs will also be made to the sanitary and storm sewer. For the safety of construction crews, southbound Calumet Drive between Geele Avenue and North 15th Street will be closed and is expected to be closed for five to six weeks according to the Department of Public Works.

One lane in the northbound direction will remain open. A detour will be posted using North Avenue and North 15th Street. Upon completion of the work in the southbound lanes, the project will switch sides and northbound Calumet Drive will be closed to all traffic and one lane in the southbound direction will be reopened.

All work on Calumet Drive is scheduled to be complete before July 4th. All work and traffic impacts are weather-dependent and subject to change according to DPW.
