SHEBOYGAN — Scooter’s Coffee, a drive-thru-only coffee kiosk, could be coming to Sheboygan.

A developer has proposed constructing a Scooter’s Coffee drive-thru on a vacant lot on South Business Drive near Wilson Avenue in the Conoco neighborhood. Scooter’s plans to build a 664-square-foot building to house operations for a drive-through coffee shop. The cost of construction is estimated at $600,000.

The property, located between Cousins Subs and Advance Auto Parts, was previously a car wash and Jo-to-Go before being demolished. The land is owned by Timothy Frey, owner of Vista Care, through JHA Investments, LLC.

The chain serves a variety of hot and cold drinks such as coffee, smoothies, and teas. Food will also be offered, focusing on breakfast items and baked goods. The new coffee shop, which could employ as many as four employees during a shift, would be built feet away from Dunkin’ Donuts and two blocks away from Biggby Coffee. Sheboygan is home to three Starbucks locations with a fourth proposed to be built at the corner of Calumet Drive and North Avenue. Additionally, there are a number of locally owned and operated coffee cafés including Paradigm and Z-Spot.

Scooter’s has two locations in Green Bay, one in Menasha and one near Madison. The Sheboygan location would be the chain’s fifth in Wisconsin. The first family-owned location of the chain opened in Nebraska, in 1998, and has around 400 locations spanning across the United States with hundreds more on the way.
