SHEBOYGAN — A woman was found dead on Sheboygan’s north side early Saturday morning.
The woman, a 44-year-old Sheboygan resident, was discovered lying on the sidewalk at North 11th Street and Superior Avenue in the Maple Heights neighborhood shortly before 3 AM on Saturday, April 23rd. Paramedics from the Sheboygan Fire Department attempted life-saving measures but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to unconfirmed public safety radio transmissions, a first responder indicated the woman had a gunshot wound to the head and resuscitation efforts were underway. Incident Response video from the scene shows paramedics covering the body and officers searching the area near the body. Crime scene tape and emergency vehicles blocked part of the intersection.
The Sheboygan Police Department has not publicly commented on the incident but according to a source within the department, detectives believe this was a suicide and there is no threat to the community. WKTS has learned the woman had just celebrated her 44th birthday on Thursday.
