SHEBOYGAN — Walgreens has recently reduced their pharmacy hours, leaving Sheboygan without a 24-hour pharmacy.
Walgreens, the second-largest pharmacy store chain in the United States behind CVS Health, has three locations in the City of Sheboygan and one in Plymouth. Recently, the pharmacy hours at all three locations were reduced. Historically, the Walgreens location at North 14th Street and Erie Avenue had been open around the clock while the north and south side locations would close overnight.
“What we’ve been seeing in some areas is consistent with what many other healthcare entities have been experiencing – staffing challenges due to the ongoing labor shortage and ongoing demand for COVID-related services,” said a Walgreens spokesperson. “As a result, there are some instances in which we’ve had to adjust or reduce pharmacy operating hours, as we work to balance staffing and resources in the market to meet the needs of our customers and patients.”
With the recent changes, the North 14th Street pharmacy is now open from 8 AM to 10 PM during the week, 9 AM to 6 PM on Saturdays and 9 AM to 5 PM on Sundays. The pharmacy at South Business Drive and Washington Avenue is now only 9 AM to 7 PM during the week and closed on the weekend. The same hours are in effect for the North Avenue and Calumet Drive location.
A spokesperson with the company did not say how long the reduced hours would last. The nearest 24-hour Walgreens’ pharmacies are located in West Bend and Green Bay.
