SHEBOYGAN — In a few weeks, motorists will see another set of stop and go lights along South Business Drive in Sheboygan.
The new traffic signals will be installed at the intersection of South Business Drive and Georgia Avenue and will be activated sometime this month. The signals are being installed due to the expected increase in traffic due to The Oscar apartment complex. A traffic study was completed for the intersection and it was determined due to the future increase in traffic from the Oscar Development that traffic signals were needed to be installed at the intersection for safety and to create a better flow of traffic.
According to City Engineer Ryan Sazama, the cost is approximately $240,000 for the installation of the lights.
The intersection previously had traffic signals before their removal.
Georgia Avenue from South 8th Street to South Business Drive was repaved this summer as well. South 14th Street between Georgia Avenue and Broadway Avenue became a two-way street as the street no longer connects to Georgia Avenue.
