SHEBOYGAN — In recent weeks, at least one burglar appears to be targeting stores in Downtown Sheboygan.

Since June 1st, the Sheboygan Police Department has investigated four burglaries, with three of those occurring near North 8th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue in the last few weeks. During the early morning hours on Wednesday August 18th and Wednesday August 25th, smash and grab style burglaries occurred at two stores in the 500 block of North 8th Street.

Both businesses, Sheboygan Green Rx and Greenhouse CBD & Glass, are retail dispensaries for Hemp Derived CBD products. In June 2020, three men were charged with an early morning burglary of Green Rx. Jared Roe, owner of the store, said about $4,500 in damage was done.

On August 18th, officers responded to Roe’s store for an alarm sounding. The suspect broke the front window, entered the store and removed several products. “This is very stressful having to go through this,” said Roe. “Its not what I like to see in our community, but I will say there has been a tremendous amount of support from locals in the community and the Sheboygan Police Department trying to assist in bringing this individual to justice.”

Police also investigated a reported burglary at Brennan’s bar at North 11th Street and Michigan Avenue on September 5th and a store in the 800 block of Pennsylvania Avenue on July 3rd. Officers have increased their patrols of the downtown district and have been seen walking and checking doors of businesses during the overnight hours.

Also on Monday, the police department’s Criminal Investigation Division released photos of a possible suspect in the burglaries as well as an attempted burglary. Detectives are attempting to identify a white male individual, who was captured on video wearing a face mask, in relation to those burglaries.

If you have information regarding the crime spree, call Sheboygan Countywide Crime Stoppers at 1-877-283-8436 or submit a tip online at cufthem.com. You will remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward up to $1,000.
